August Course Begins...

So! I've been stupid busy and wish I had something entertaining to post, but I have to get ready to go out for a stagette tonight - dinner and comedy at the Giggle Dam theatre! Should be fun and funny! I will take pictures! Then the fun continues with her shower tomorrow! Had my first class of Directed Studies today and am SUPERly DUPERly excited to get started on it. The project is an Architectural firm's office and living space above. Its going to be very intense fitting it into a month - normally people do it in a 12 week layout. But anyways I will try to update the blog if I have time and if there are things I think all you can help with and give me opinions on! By Tuesday I need to have a concept for the space. Something that is going to make the design flow smoothly and makes decisions easier for the layout/esthetic/colours and everything else involved. As an example, past concepts I've used in space planning: -Cave/cavernous -Castle/Magestic -50's -Factory I was thinking possibly global or sort of 'Heritage' symbols and patterns... but I'm not sure how easy that would be to incorporate into the whole layout etc. Maybe round...globe ....

Post Edit: I had an idea - tell me if I should stick with it! "Robin's nest" - and here is why - could be all neutrals, lots of nature motifs, but pops of robin's egg blue. The Architecture plays a part because a nest is quite a construction. The rounded/dome shape found in the eggs and the nest could be used in different ways such as reception area.... I have a vision in my head....PAINT TO THE RESCUE!!!

Ok, so, obviously, a veeeery vague interpretation of what's in my head. But you see where I'm going with the dome thing. I feel like going to school right now and getting on photoshop to get a logo in gear! Logo on the back wall there... or front of desk... or something different altogether...
And see, this is how a concept works. Now when I wonder where their logo should go, I think, well, if this was a Robin's nest, the "Welcome to the Robin Family" sign would be.... (nowhere, but, pretend with me here) maybe....nailed onto the tree? Maybe a post should be coming out of the wall or simply a bare beam from the ceiling to which a sign could be sort of half-hazardly-looking nailed to it.... see how important concept is?! It gets the project moving in A direction instead of 1000 which is what my head would do otherwise. Comment please!

Okay so I am blabbering.

I am kinda glad the project is an Architect's office because the last semester's classes got a car dealership! Blech! So since I have worked in an Architectural firm which was a PERFECT example of what NOT to do (oh, it was bad...) I think I can handle it. I just have to make QUICK decisions, trust my instincts and move forward fast or else I'll be scrambling like a crazy woman on the 3rd week...

Send me some creative vibes!

When I think of architecture I think of old Roman pillars and archways and statues.........just my thoughts.....

When I think of architecture I think not too "trendy" but sharp. I guess what I mean is...
no damask things. Or antlers! But crisp objects without clutter? I think?
