1940s Hair

Check out Casey Brown of "Elegantly Amused" on YouTube for hair tutorials!

My Before & After:
After trying the front bang-curl part about four trillion times, I finally settled with it like this, but my hair really doesn't do that 'neat and tidy' look she does so perfectly!

So fun though! You should check out her YouTube channel and blog and Etsy shop and whatever else she's got linked from her blog. Pretty neat chicky!

Morning Creation

Some cute ol' fabric I've had sitting around forever
It used to be a curtain. And I remember sewing the random pleats into it one day back when we lived in Australia. That's all I did to it. So today I finally made it fit as a skirt, added a zipper and a hem.

Surprisingly enough, it does stay up without the belt, but I like the little touch of 'modern' that it adds. :)

Delectable Diggings from da Web

I am so in love with this image. It reminds me of my Dad . . . dunno why!
The above list I found on Kelly McCaleb's Tumblr. Which is essentially what my tumblr would look like if I had one, so I haven't bothered, I just look at her's. And you should too.
Not sure where I found this but I love the old can as a vase idea.

This, too, has been in "My Pictures" for a long time and I can't remember where it's from. Sorry. But I want her dress. And I could use a rusty tub like that too.
I try not to want things but when they're so beautifully styled... my eyes just get away from my brain mmkay?

On my resemblance to a gorgeous actress

I have now had 4 people at work tell me that I look like Dana Delaney, an actor on Desperate Housewives. The first customer to tell me that, I thought she was just tryin' to be nice, and I didn't know who she was or what she looked like so I left it at that. Then the other day, THREE people told me I looked like her. And not just vaguely look like her, these people were saying things like "I couldn't figure out where I knew you from, you looked so familiar, and then I realised that it's just that you're a twin to Katherine from Desperate Housewives!"

So, still not knowing who she was so finally I had to look it up. . . and the results are in:

Really?! I wish!

I honestly can't even see a resemblance. Can you?

I do like those glasses. I'd like a set of 'em for myself...

Hmph. I don't get it. But thank you IGA shoppers! Or IGA... the lighting must be miraculous.

Do you ever get told you look like someone? Do you agree with them or do we never think we look the way others think we look?

Now if I had any food in my house I would make some supper. But I don't. So I will finish the laundry.
And maybe tidy up a bit. it would be nice to go to bed tonight.
And public apology: Sorry I was making stuff for me, I will work on all your creative things next! I have completed 1 thing though, so there!

Want a dress like this??

I wore my English Rose Garden dress (that's what i JUST named it. Erg dress for short) on Sunday and got a load of compliments again, as I always do when I bother to wear it - or should i say when I bother to iron it so that I can wear it.

Sorry about the photo quality, this is a couple years old and my Auntie's photo from a cousin's wedding. Being a dork. Not much has changed.

Well check out this dress. I think it would make me look just as good. ;) great, even.
And you can win it!

I gotta go now, lookin at more amazingly covered up yet cute looking dresses at Shabby Apple; looks pretty much like my mecca!

the fitting room:

I really really really feel like shopping. And I have ample money (yeah right) so I thought I'd concoct a little plan here...

Nothing above is under $100 though :(

That is the saddest sentence I've typed all day.

HOWEVER, Forever XXI is coming to 'a mall near ME' (MetroTown - I saw the sign when I was there that it opens this summer) and I know for a fact that they have affordable and stylish stuff! See below for what I'd be tryin' on.

Nothing is more than $30 that I've shown here. Yippee!! Might even fit my clothing budget of $0 once in a while!

Etsy has some mighty-fine things to offer

hehehe this is probably the best hand-made doll I've come accross...ever.

from pocomedio's shop on etsy.com

"Estelle enjoys picking scabs (not necessarily her own), pushing all her brother's flat Lego pieces together oh-so-very tightly and repeating everything you say in a robot voice. Some people tease her about her frizzy bangs and long sausage like pigtails. These people are easy to spot - they have big handshaped red marks on their foreheads. They just don't know what's cool. She's a trendsetter."

These tissue-paper pompoms are really fun - and only $30 for a set of 7, in a huge range of colours, whats not to like?!
From pomlove's shop on etsy.

And I may just copy this idea for a bag... other than the lumpiness of the bottom corner there. But I like the handle idea and I could easily make that out of lengths of fabric.
Drika B's shop has plenty of bags all about the same with different shapes. I don't blame her cause it's simple and nice!

Lifestyle in pictures

After finding Polyvore I've wasted plenty of time ...
I decided to make one that incorporated all the things I want to work on and incorporate more into my lifestyle. Fresh fruits & Veggies was the 1st thing I added! Then Water. Then Yoga. Then... everything else. Here it is!

These Dresses....

I don't know what it is with Vintage dresses; why don't we see this anymore? The cute little sleeves, flattering shape and feminine fabrics and textures.... hmmmm. I just love it.
Love Love LOVE the skirt of this one:

This one's very different but still the classic shape, so any lean toward a camouflage look are forgiven.

And of course some polka-dots - I like the neck line and sleeve again too.

If I had these I want to think I'd wear them all the time. I doubt that though. Oh well, in a perfect world it would happen I'm sure.
